Humanism
Humanism can be individual or inclusive.
Throughout recorded history free thinkers have fought for independence from religious dogma and superstition. This classical Humanism (e.g. secular Humanism) portrays Humanists as being primarily concerned with intellectual freedom more than humanitarian ethics.
Although such Humanists may claim both interests, many are simply atheists and the larger public has come to see them that way. Beginning in the 19th century social reforms, pacifism and then environmental awareness added legitimate new parameters to what has become modern Humanism. Today our species understands that we must come into harmony with ourselves, our planet and its resources.
An overview of individual Humanism is well laid out in Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humanism
For Humanists, we must realize that ours remains a young and fragile philosophy with many enemies, among them militarists, nationalists, religionists and the corrupt. All would seek to perpetutate divisions within Human society to maintain their own interests and strategies.
How can we bond with each other and defend homo sapiens against those interests? Here is a video that is the quintessence of inclusive Humanism, of how one dividual can inspire thousands.
Enjoy it, as we can all learn from its joyful example.
